About Philip Sugden
Philip Sugden is a full time artist who has a studio in the famous Jones Building, a community of 20 artists in Findlay. He is also an Assist. Prof. of Art at Bluffton University.
His work in influenced by a dozen trips to the Himalayas and Tibet and focuses on a theme of "transformation." His work explores the creative process as a vehicle toward awakening or enlightenment, much like most tribal art which helps members of a tribe stay connected to the earth and universe.
His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums world-wide with over 80 solo shows and at least 150 group and invitational exhibits. Philip has had at least 15 exhibits in New York City, as well as in London, Paris, Melbourne, Kathmandu, Pittsburgh, Louisville, LA, and Miami.
