Description
One of my first documentary style approaches in a body of work, New York Rollerbladers is an attempt to get to know each face that accompanies a pair of skates in the New York rollerblading scene. I have learned that it isn't one good skater or skate company or media site that makes a scene great, but rather all the individuals that are involved in that scene. Over the course of the next 2 years I plan on continuing this series and documenting other regions of New York to show the true numbers that lie within one of the great scenes in rollerblading.

  • New York Rollerbladers began in September of 2011 and was my attempt to familiarize myself with the NY  rollerblading community, one portrait at a time. I found that what makes a scene strong is not a skate company or local hero or media site, or any single entity, but rather, the people that are involved and make up that scene.  As this series continues, I plan to document rollerbladers from Long Island, Upstate New York, and everywhere in between.
