Pew Research Center is the leading nonpartisan, independent research institution whose mission is to inform the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world. The Center has several focuses of study, which have in the past functioned as semi-independent research centers. Recently, it was decided to merge these “sub-brands” to help give more prominence to the Pew Research Center brand. In order to help increase the Center’s visibility, a bolder visual identity system was needed.
The visual identity system is grounded by a symbol that suggests illumination, as befits an organization that sheds light on important social and political trends through data. A proprietary color palette helps to distinguish the various research activities, while uniting them under the main Pew identity.
