Operation Delirium

  • After reading an article with the same title on the New Yorker (Dec 17, 2012), which discussed the government testing of hallucinogenic drugs on soldiers during the Cold War, I decided to make a series of Photoshop composites that illustrate this. I did not want to focus on one government, but rather on the general concept of governmental abuse of power around the entire world. So, I sketched out the concepts for each composite, and shot the main subject in the studio. Then, I went online and appropriated images to build the respective scenes. Pulling inspiration from Pink Floyd's The Wall, Matt Mahuirn, and Jacob's Ladder, I ended up with 6 composites that tell the story of a soldier/veteran, suffering with his past experiences - where not enough appropriate care was given to him after the tests and the war itself.
