Edgar Allan Poe Chapbooks. I wanted the chapbooks to have a feeling of
tension and a suppressed madness which Edgar Allan Poe is so exceptional at creating.
With the covers I tried to foreshadow the crimes and events that are happening in the stories. I strangled the type in ”The Black Cat” by strangling a piece of paper and photographing it. I photographed the ”Tell Tale” in ”The Tell Tale Heart” with a slow shutter speed to capture a movement that mimics a heartbeat. With ”The Cask of Amontillado” I buried the type to get a closed in and trapped feeling.
