From Cuba documentary series: Take a cooking lesson with Manolo, a high-spirited, Santa Clara native.
Manolo was my host while I stayed in Cuba. He's a Santa Clara native and a very sweet man. Unfortunately, just before my arrival a cycling accident caused him to break his dentures and he became toothless. The pain for him to even eat was unbearable and the State couldn't afford him new ones. To get his dentures fixed privately, it would've cost Manolo an amount he couldn't even make in 3 months of work: $50. That didn't stop him however from telling jokes, smoking cigarettes, explaining life and teaching cooking lessons. I didn't get footage of us eating the mountain of croquettes that day, but they were eaten with love and discussed for days after.
