In 2010 I started photographing my grand-uncles. I find them fascinating: their customs, eccentricities and their particularly positive approach to life.
Through delicate and intimate close-ups I started portraying how, in their older years, life has become all about the rituals they perform in their day-to-day, routines. They approach each day with an almost child-like attitude that contradicts the somber and meditative attitudes often associated with the elderly. With time, the project has evolved and expanded to include their surroundings. By means of the objects that they have accumulated throughout the years I describe them and tell their story.
